Dr. Cheryl DeWitt of Camelid Reproductive Services, one of the most respected camelid vets in the United States, will guide you through this one day clinic on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The lecture will cover reproductive anatomy and physiology, breeding and pregnancy diagnosis options, gestational development, care of the pregnant dam, normal and abnormal deliveries, and care of the newborn as well as the high risk cria. The lab, using uterine simulators, will challenge registrants to diagnose dystocia (difficult labor and delivery), and then discuss the proposed delivery plan. For new or experienced breeders the knowledge gained is priceless. These dystocia techniques are lifesaving skills that breeders used within days of the seminar. The price of the workshop is refundable should the attendee purchase alpacas or breedings from any of the sponsor farms.
