Rosehaven Alpacas was started at the end of 2002 with 2 alpacas and purchased 5 more in the beginning of 2003. With almost 20 years in the industry — we feel that our experience can be of benefit to both the newly interested and the established breeder. Our mistakes are just important as our triumphs. Back in 2002 one look at the cutest huggable alpaca and we were smitten. With no background in any livestock, we dove headfirst. And from there on — it was on the job training.

And oh, did we learn. Would we approach alpaca ownership differently now — absolutely! Would we still be alpaca farmers — absolutely! Because of our experiences, a new breeder will always be told about research, evaluations, fiber, sustainability, alpaca shows, alpaca registrations, and farm setup.

We have become devoted to giving small farms of all fiber animals a way to get their product utilized. We believe in sustainable and American made. Thus, we created a mill to help those small farms sort and process their fiber for appropriate end products. Our mill processes all fiber: alpacas, sheep, llama, bunny, cashmere, and yak for the fiber enthusiast. We believe in the importance of the sustainable market and promoting farms all over the country

Our herd boasts some of the best gray males and females in the country. One of our strongest assets is our herdsires. We have had the honor of breeding and raising 4x judges’ choice and 23 banner winner Rosehaven’s Triple Threat. We offer herdsire breedings to our championship males as well as the sale of their offspring and females that are bred to the herdsires. We also have a few pet quality alpacas for sale each year.

Rosehaven Alpacas is located on a 40-acre farm in Callicoon, New York, in the foothills of the Catskills. We are located less than 2 hours from New York City and 15 minutes from the original site of the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Our mill is now at the gates to Bethel Woods. Our alpaca products and selected sourced items are available online and in our store. We are at local festivals at Bethel Woods and are proud to be part of the Greenmarket at the Union Square greenmarket in NYC for fall and winter.

Fiber Mill

We produce batts, art bats, roving, core spun yarn in rugs or our marvelous extreme knitters favorite Popcorn yarn. All our products are hand dyed. And our colors are beautiful! We also make dryer balls, needle felting and felted soap. Not everything is online, our yarn and product turns over quickly.
