Shape the Industry through Service on an AOA Committee

AOA currently is seeking members interested in helping to shape the industry by serving on an AOA committee. We currently are expanding the membership of three committees.

Government and Industry Relations Committee (GIRCom)

GIRCom would like to add members to its committee. Ideal candidates would have writing skills and experience with legislative and regulatory activities.

GIRCom currently is finishing up an Estate Planning document for AOA members and actively monitoring livestock health and regulation issues. GIRCom maintains an industry presence in the U.S. Animal Health Association (USAHA).

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is recruiting additional members that have an interest in growing the AOA membership.

The Membership Committee reviews current membership levels to determine if they contain the appropriate services, develops ideas for adding value to paid memberships along with an education strategy to show the value of an AOA membership, and researches potential new paid membership levels. Currently the committee is researching the possibility of creating a youth and a fiber membership category.

Ad Hoc Youth Committee

The Youth Committee is recruiting additional members with personal experience working with kids and their livestock. Writing skills would be helpful.

This ad hoc committee is responsible for investigating ways to increase youth participation in AOA activities. It works collaboratively with the AOA Board and other committees along with the AOA affiliates. Currently the committee is working on updating the Youth Handbook.

For more information on AOA committees, read Policy 01–04 online at www.alpacainfo.com/members/organization/policies.

If you are interested in serving on any of these committees, please complete the Committee Disclosure form at www.alpacainfo.com/committee-disclosure by November 19, 2017.
