2020 AOA Election Announcement

April 28 is the deadline for becoming a member entitled to vote in the upcoming election. In addition to electing three new Board members, the membership will be voting on the adoption of the Suri and Huacaya Breed Standards.

This year’s election will again be conducted via an online voting service. To review the candidate statements visit www.alpacainfo.com/election.

Voting in the Election

To vote in the upcoming election, you must be an Association or Registry member, at least 18 years old, and own at least 25% of a live AOA-registered alpaca. If you have not yet renewed or upgraded your membership, you can do so on your dashboard after logging in at www.AlpacaInfo.com. As a reminder, individuals, not farms, are AOA members; therefore, spouses or partners must have their own individual memberships to be eligible to vote in the election.

2020 Election Candidates

The 2020 Election Committee: Joe Crocco (Copper Star Alpaca Farm), Chair; Bill Beranek (Rancho Inca Alpacas); Dale Davis (Derwydd Alpacas); Carolyn Marquette (The AlpacaRosa, LLC); and Scott Miller (Crescent Moon Ranch) have selected seven candidates for the three open positions. The terms expiring this year are those of Patty Hasselbring, David Andrew Merriwether, and Jeff Williamson.

  • Jennifer Hack — Triple H Ranch (CO)
  • Brian Houchin — Houchin Family Alpacas (IL)
  • Char (Charissa) Johnson — Happy Tails Alpaca Farm (NC)
  • Wini Labrecque — SWF Fiber Innovations (NM)
  • Sharon Milligan — Red Granite Ranch Ltd (CO)
  • Robert Pulse — Pulse Ranches Texas (TX)
  • Jeff Williamson — Liberty Alpacas (WA)

Adoption of Breed Standards

The 2020 ballot will include a vote on the Suri and Huacaya Breed Standards, which the AOA Board is recommending for adoption by the membership. AOA has entered into an agreement with the Suri Network for use of the Suri Network’s Suri Breed Standard, if it is adopted by AOA’s members. The Huacaya Breed Standard was prepared by a committee of AOA members and approved by the Board.
