Sistine is a beautifully well conformed finely fiber white breeding dam. She is out of Snowmass RRoyal Stars whose density is unmatched. She will and can bring years of quality offspring not to mention years of quality fiber. We will continue to use her as our foundation dam, but she is for sale. We had a beautiful white female out of Sistine who will take her place in our line of breeding females.
What a thrill it is for Colusa Riverside Alpaca to integrate Snowmass RR Royal Stars in combination into our breeding stock. The ideal alpaca regardless of color must come with density along with fineness, uniformity and fiber length. Sistine's CV on her 2016 histogram is 17. Which means good uniformity of fiber. Sistine's expected prodigy determinations are respectable and for that reason will continue to breed her for sale as a proven dam. Other Histogram results for 2016 are respectable with an SD of 4.4 at age 5, along with an AFD of 25. Though not as fine as we expect, it is certainly a uniform fleece.
Though we have focused on white alpacas in our breeding program to date, we do have a several EPD gifted dams of color and will soon be looking toward the expansion of our breeding program to include more alpacas of color. The same deliberate EPD focus for our breeding decision we have made with whites will be brought to our colored alpaca production.
Here's what Sistine's breeder had to say about her. "Not surprising if you check out dad's follicle skin testing done by Ian Watt. It has shown him to be one of the densest herdsires in the country, and not only a champion in his own right, but now a producer of champions, even in brown".
