Alpaca Owner Association, Inc. (AOA) offers Business Members the opportunity to gift a complimentary Primary Membership to individuals who are first-time alpaca owners and have never been AOA members.

This membership welcomes new owners into the alpaca community, providing access to valuable resources, services, and ongoing support.

Eligibility

To qualify for the gift membership, recipients must:

• Be first-time alpaca owners.
• Have never been an AOA member.
• Have recently purchased alpacas from an AOA Business Member.
• Activate the transfer within 45 days of the sale.

How It Works

• Business Members can download the PDF certificate to present to new owners at the time of sale, if desired.
• New owners contact AOA for assistance setting up their account and activating their complimentary membership. They will need to provide the member who presented the gift membership.

Alternate Mentors

If the original seller is unable to assist the new owner — due to retirement, herd dispersal, or other reasons — another Business Member may act as a mentor and gift the complimentary Primary Membership

Transfers

All transfers must be completed through the AOA online system within 45 days of the sale.

Membership Duration

• Gift certificates issued in the last three months of the year will be valid from the date of issuance through the entire following membership year.
  Example: If alpacas are purchased in October 2025, the gift membership will be valid through December 2026.
• Gift certificates awarded during the first nine months of the year will be valid through the remainder of the current calendar year.
  Example: If alpacas are purchased in March 2025, the gift membership will be valid through December 2025.
