Youth Judge Training and Hands-on Educational Experience

Sunday, March 16 • 8:00 a.m.

Grady County Fairgrounds

This engaging activity offers young individuals, ages 11 to 18, a unique opportunity to learn about judging alpaca conformation and fleece. Led by an AOA-certified judge, the event will begin with a one-hour classroom session, followed by practical, hands-on evaluation of both haltered Suri and Huacaya alpacas.

Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of running a show ring, providing oral reasons, and assessing alpacas based on conformation and fleece quality. They will also gain experience in placing classes of Suris and Huacayas. After judging the classes and delivering their oral reasons, participants will receive placements and ribbons based on the accuracy and clarity of their evaluations.

The training will take place on Sunday, beginning in the morning and concluding by early afternoon, offering an exciting and educational experience for aspiring alpaca judges.
