Dear AOA Members,

I was excited to represent AOA and the Alpaca Industry in Indianapolis at the FFA National Convention a few weeks back. The young people in attendance were very interested in the industry, and having animals there for them to see was awesome! I appreciate Tim and Beth Sheets bringing their animals on Wednesday and Thursday; and Dan Hilty bringing animals on Friday. Having alpacas at the show along with the information we provided was valuable in promoting the industry.

During the course of the show, we had 580 people sign-up with their email addresses. This equals to one name every 1.75 minutes that the booth was open! We will send this list of contacts to our affiliates so that they can engage these people back in their home states.

Congratulations to Cheryl Wise for winning our Facebook contest. She will be receiving her prize in the mail soon. Thank you to Jeff and Leslie Jorritsma of Autumn Mist Alpaca Farm & Fiber Mill LLC; Paul Misterka of CCAP; Michael and Margery Morack of Greenbriar Farm – MAM Consulting Associates, Inc.; Marcus Skildum and Anita Kolb of Mesa Trail Alpacas LLC; Chris Reachard of C and C Alpaca Factory; and Brandon Sigler and Austin Swain of Elderwood Farms for donating great door prizes for the students. We also gave away many AOA items in our drawings.

We have already committed to a booth at the 2019 show in Indianapolis and will be seeking members to volunteer for the show in many ways. Thank you for all who have been supportive of our endeavor to engage the youth of FFA. I look forward to going back next year again.

Regards,
