Become a Certified Sorter & Grader

Led by fiber expert Wini Labrecque.

SGC is pleased to offer their SUNY BASIC one day Certification Course in person at the AOA National Education and Fiber Conference (NEFC) in Burlington, Kentucky, on Sunday, July 17. Cost of this live BASIC course is $180. Registration is separate from NEFC registration.

The goal of the Basic Course is to have natural fiber producers gain the knowledge to return to their farm and organize their fiber for production. Management, harvesting, and sorting are the building blocks for the course. Included is information on yarn production to familiarize the students with processing at artisan mills. Participants will leave with the tools they need to get their fiber out of storage and separated so they can maximize yield and minimize cost at their mill. In addition, it will prepare them with the background knowledge necessary to continue into the Advanced Course and if desired the Apprenticeship Program. Students will be provided a workbook and tested Grade 3 calibration fiber sample for their reference.

Come in for just a day and attend this certification course for $180 or spend the weekend with us and purchase a weekend pass for an additional $249. All weekend seminars will be available virtually, on demand, following the conference to weekend pass holders.
