Important Update on the Proposed Percentage Registry Amendments to the AOA Bylaws
Dear AOA Members,
Your Alpaca Owners Associaton (AOA) Board has voted to postpone the member vote on the Percentage Registry Bylaws amendments. The motion passed reads as follows:
"Motion to postpone the member vote on the percentage registry until such time as a task force of vetted members can develop recommendations for the board to refine or rescind the percentage registry bylaws amendments."
We asked AOA Board Member Jay Penica to share the board's thinking behind this decision:
On May 27, your AOA Board voted to postpone the vote on the Percentage Registry. This delay allows time for a task force of vetted members to develop recommendations that will help the board shape the proposed Bylaws amendments. We chose this path to ensure every member has a voice in shaping the future of our industry.
As a member-driven organization, we are committed to acting with care and diligence. Forming this task force gives us the opportunity to reduce ambiguity and develop thoughtful recommendations that benefit the entire alpaca community.
Whether you're a small farm, agritourism business, fiber operation, industry partner, or seed stock breeder, we are all part of one larger alpaca family.
While our industry faces both opportunities and challenges, it's essential that we work together — united to support growth and ensure a strong, sustainable future for the next generation of alpaca producers.
We will use upcoming roundtable events to educate members, share the range of perspectives surrounding this proposal, and invite volunteers to serve on this task force. I encourage each of you to share your ideas with the board and hold us accountable as we work to make meaningful, positive changes for all of our members.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
— Jay Penica, AOA Board Member
