Diana Timmerman Named the
2026 AOA Shining Star
There is no greater thank-you to a volunteer than recognition from one’s peers for the generous gift of time, knowledge, energy, and service.
 Alpaca Owners Association (AOA) is honored to recognize Diana Timmerman as the recipient of the 2026 Shining Star Award. For more than three decades, Diana’s passion, expertise, and dedication have helped shape the alpaca industry and strengthen our community.
Diana and her husband, Tim, founded Aussie Acres Alpacas in 1994. Together, they became widely respected for producing exceptional grey Huacaya breeding stock and sharing those genetics with breeders around the world.
Her influence extends far beyond her own farm. Inspired by her passion for alpacas and fleece education, Diana purchased The Alpaca Breeders Fiber School, where she has educated countless alpaca owners and fiber professionals. She has also served the industry as a consultant, educator, fiber sorter, grader, and wool classer, helping raise standards and expand knowledge throughout the alpaca community.
Diana is one of the industry’s most respected judges and educators. She serves as an AOA Halter Judge, Senior Fleece Judge, Judge Trainer, and Instructor. After earning her International Alpaca Judge certification through the International Alpaca Judging School in Peru in 2004, she judged alpaca shows throughout the United States and Canada. Her extensive experience breeding, raising, and showing alpacas and other livestock has made her a trusted mentor and leader.
Her commitment to service is equally remarkable. Diana has served on the Alpaca Breeders of the Rockies board and continues to give generously of her time as chair of the AOA Judges Advisory Committee. She also serves on the Judge Training and Certification Committee and the Show Rules Committee, helping guide the organization’s future and uphold the integrity of the alpaca industry.
 Throughout every chapter of her life, Diana has demonstrated excellence, integrity, and a genuine desire to help others succeed. Whether mentoring new breeders, educating judges, advancing fleece knowledge, or strengthening AOA through her leadership, she has left an enduring mark on our industry.
Diana, your dedication, generosity, and unwavering commitment embody the spirit of the Shining Star Award. Thank you for your countless contributions and for inspiring others to strive for excellence.
