Our journey began unexpectedly with Brownie, an alpaca we found on Craigslist. What started as a single alpaca quickly grew into a passion for breeding, genetics, and fleece improvement, supported by the knowledge and generosity of the alpaca community.
Today, Fulcrum Farms is focused on producing elite modern roan Huacaya alpacas with exceptional fleece quality. We combine traditional stockmanship with data-driven breeding decisions, utilizing histograms, EPDs, DNA color testing, and pedigree analysis to make informed breeding choices that strengthen each generation.
We are also developing PacaPilot, an AI-powered breeding assistant that helps breeders analyze genetics, fiber data, and breeding outcomes. Alongside this effort, we are leading an ongoing research project investigating the genetics of modern roan coloration, with the goal of improving our understanding of inheritance and providing practical tools for breeders worldwide.
