Show Updates
The AOA board is continuing to review several show topics through board and show task force discussions. Out of this information the board has reached decisions on some new show pilots that will be executed during the fall of 2020 and the 2021 show seasons.
- Limit walking fleece classes to 12 and split after 12 alpacas.
- Show can include a novice class, a small breeder class, or both. Small breeders are defined as those with twenty or fewer AOA registered females of the same breed. Novice classes are defined as farms that have been in existence for under 10 years.
- Decrease the required number of alpacas to eight huacaya and six suri per color group to be eligible for color championships.
- Decrease the minimum number for splitting a color division from four to three.
- Allow awarding of a Best Head and Best Profile, with criteria based on the breed standards, as an exhibition class.
